Bestival and Big Chill announce Sailor Jerry’s Ink City!

Wednesday 28th July 2010

Sailor Jerry's Ink City!

Both Bestival and The Big Chill will have bands playing in a 1930s-styled tattoo parlour this summer thanks to Sailor Jerry's rum.

Bestival will be hosting White Rabbits, I Blame Coco, Chrome Hoof Errors, Bookhouse Boys, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Egyptian Hip Hop, Skibunny and more.

Playing at The Big Chill 2010 will be We Were Promised Jetpacks, Fiction, Goldhawks, Racehorses, The Boy Who Trapped the Sun, Not Cool and more.

More acts are to be announced for both events.

Sailor Jerry’s Ink City will be a unique experience and chance for festival-goers to see first-hand the live craftsmanship of a number of classic Norman Collins designs inked by tattoo artists.

Authentic pieces of tattoo equipment displayed alongside classic Sailor Jerry artwork will provide the backdrop.

Camp Bestival captures the electric and mischievous atmosphere of its infamous sister soiree with an added focus on family fun – a boutique bash for all ages and one not to be taken seriously.

With only 10,000 tickets on sale, this is an intimate but perfectly formed festival. Inspired by the 1950s British Holiday Camp of summers past, expect Bestival Bluecoats, sports day, campfire storytelling, a good ole Cockney knees up, insect circus, and the usual fancy dress tomfoolery. Hot showers with tea and toast, giant BBQs, spit roasts and a farmers market will knock the socks of your standard mud and beer festival.

Making sure the music doesn’t take a back seat, an eclectic line up of top artists handpicked by Rob da Bank will play out across multiple stages.

The Big Chill has grown from humble beginnings into a highly-respected boutique festival affectionately recognised for its creativeness and craziness with arts and music.

From its genesis as a Sunday all-dayer in Islington's Union Chapel, The Big Chill moved around a bit before settling in its new home of Eastnor Castle in 2002. It now attracts tens of thousands of chillers whilst simultaneously managing to retain its magical intimacy.

As well as art, films, poetry, cabaret and gourment food, expect musical offering to suit both families and ravers. The festival hosts two open air stages showcasing live acts while the beeps and beats ensue in a series of undercover tents.

Tickets for Bestival are now sold out, however there are still some tickets available for the Big Chill, click here for more information.
